The Deeper START Castable Wireless Fish Finder is a new fish-finder from Deeper. It's their most affordable to-date, and one which I think will attract more anglers into the sport.

It’s light, perfect for casting, it’s simple to use, helping you put more fish on the bank, and it’s affordable, making it a must-have accessory.

It’s a device that you’re not going to want to leave the house without, whether you’re off to a commercial fishery, canal, lake or river.

Using all of the expertise, knowledge and technology gained from the successful Deeper Pro and Pro+ products, the Deeper START is lighter than its predecessors, at just 65 g. This makes it easy to cast, just like a feeder.

It comes with a swivel attachment, and has been tested with 6 lb-plus monofilament and 16 lb-plus braid.

Designed to be cast from the bank, it has a casting range of up to 50 m, and it’ll scan up to 50 m depths, using wireless technology and a simple-to-use Deeper App.

It sends a clear display of what lies beneath, complete with fish icons and depth tags, back to your smartphone.

Being able to scan the position and the size of the fish in the water, whether they are small, medium or large, you can then tie the right rig to catch them, whether it’s a float rig set shallow, or a feeder presented on the bottom.

There’s an automatic Night Fishing function, too, so you can carry on using it in the dark.

You can even set the Deeper Smart fish alarm to alert you when fish are in the area. What’s more, all the scans are saved, allowing you to review them in detail.

The Deeper team have made sure that you don’t need any sonar experience to operate the device, which communicates with your smartphone using a strong wi-fi connection, sending up to ten scans per second.

Easy to charge, it couples perfectly with the Deeper Smartphone Mount, which allows you to position a phone on your rod, just above the reel, when scanning the water.

Price: £129.99.

UPDATE (Nov 2018): Price reduced to £99 – available HERE.
