Advnture Verdict

The Klymit Drift Camp Pillow is ideal for car camping as it provides comfort and support, and you can keep the soft sleep-side nice by flipping the durable outer shell around it for storage and transport. The pillow comes in two sizes and in two color options. As it’s not the most lightweight or compact, this pillow is designed for car camping rather than backpacking.

Klymit Drift Camp Pillow: first impressions

The Klymit Drift Camp Pillow comes in two sizes that are perfect for car camping and making travel more comfortable, although neither is designed to pack down enough for light backpacking.

When you’re traveling with the Klymit Drift Camp Pillow, the water-resistant outer shell protects the part you sleep on from dirt, grime and moisture. Once you get to camp and unpack your sleeping bag and pad, you can flip the cover, roll it up, and stow it within the pillow itself to reveal the clean and soft jersey cotton-lined inner pillow case.

The outer shell will eventually need cleaning, but can be easily removed and machine washed.

The smaller version of the Klymit Drift Camp Pillow is 18 x 12 x 5.5 inches and weighs 19oz, and the larger size measures 23 x 16 x 6.5 inches and weighs 28oz. A shredded memory foam filling creates a balance of support and comfort.

Klymit Drift Camp Pillow: in the field

After camping with the Klymit Drift Camp Pillow in our van and in a tent for two full summers, my husband Bobby and I can’t say enough about how much we like it. As Bobby puts it: “This is my all-time favorite camp pillow.”

We have both small and large sizes; it’s nice to have the option of the large if you want to spread out and roll around, or the small if you’re good with snuggling up and staying put.

We have a lot of gear to manage and transport, and often the camping gear can get dirty or stained when moving it between storage, the car and camp, so it’s nice that the durable and water-resistant outer shell of the Klymit Drift Camp Pillow can get dirty without worry, then be removed for machine washing or spot cleaning.

The memory foam on the inside is super comfortable. The pillow is firm but also forms to head pressure in the perfect way. The foam regains its shape when you’re not using it and doesn’t leave areas uneven after use. The memory foam also allows you to compress the pillow to make it smaller for storage or transport, and the strap that Klymit provides can be used to keep the pillow cinched in a tight bundle.
