To net the win, Joe appeared in the Angler’s Mail magazine pages with an impressive River Trent common scaling 31 lb 4 oz.

Joe’s catch has been selected by the guys at top retailers and community Carp Global as the August winner.

Carp Global main man Danny Walsh said: “Fishing on rivers is something that is often overlooked by the majority of anglers, mainly because of the work that has to go into a campaign.

“You can’t just pull up to your swim and set up for the week, as rivers usually involve lots of walking, observing and locating the fish.

“It’s a great achievement for any angler to bank a river carp, but carp of this size are few and far between.

“Well done, Joe, on smashing your river carp goals. A prize package of bait, clothing and carpy goodies worth over £200 is on its way.”

Joe ended August with a chunky 28 lb 4 oz mirror and one of 22 lb
9 oz from the same River Trent stretch.

The asset care engineer from Nottingham spotted fish rolling on the surface, and then cast out a stack of three 10 mm Nxtgen Nutrition boilies, along with a PVA bag of matching freebies and a spread of 18 mm baits.

Joe said: “A brace of fish in the same session for over 50 lb is ‘dream fishing’.”
