Giant river perch caught on lure
Lure enthusiast Dan Clostre has been after a big perch for ages, and he finally came up with a beast in the form of this 5 lb 2 oz giant

The specimen measured just under 50 cm, and came from the middle Thames, just downstream of a lock.
The 22-year-old car salesman from Bracknell, Berkshire said: “Just four casts before the big one, I beat my old personal best with a 2 lb 8 oz fish.

“I fish pretty much every day, always casting and spinning, moving along a stretch and covering a lot of ground.
“The first perch was on a Salmo Hornet lure, and the beast was caught on a DAM spinner. I know this stretch very well, and always find lots of average perch from it. However, this time they were a little above average.
“My pike PB is 95 cm, not huge, but my next target is a metre-long one. I think I will be on this PB perch for a while, but you never know,” added Dan.
