With the annual Earth Day fast approaching, outdoor clothing stockist Trekitt has compiled a list of its favourite sustainable kit essentials.

Ahead of the April 22 celebration of eco-awareness, the retailer has highlighted jackets, backpacks and cleaning products from leading adventure brands turning an eye towards the environment.

Among the products highlighted are the popular Rab Microlight Alpine down jacket, the Rab Downpour ECO waterproof jacket, the Osprey Talon and Tempest backpacks, and the Helly Hansen Odin Infinity Pro jacket. Trekitt also mentions Nikwax's Tech Wash cleaner for outdoor gear, and TX.Direct wash-in waterproofing.

Earth Day was established in 1970 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. The event attempts to diversify and educate the environmental movement worldwide. The outdoor market is increasingly shifting toward a more sustainable model in order to protect and positively impact the very environment that their products are intended for – Advnture has assembled a guide to the best eco-friendly brands on the market.

“Trekitt is playing its part too,” said commercial director Mark Trepte. “We have now trialled and are soon going to be using paper and card packaging for all our online customers.  Everything is FSC certified, re-usable, recyclable and printed with water-based inks. We are also talking to our key suppliers about how we can minimise plastic use from products bagged in plastic, coming from the factories.”
