An angling legend has been caught fishing during the Close Season on Herefordshire’s River Wye – but insists it was a “misunderstanding”.
An Environment Agency spokeswoman said: ‘We can confirm that a man was apprehended in Herefordshire on the June 14 by the Environment Agency. He was found fishing on the River Wye during the coarse fish closed season, so bailiffs confiscated pieces of evidence including tackle.’
